We built the cottages oursleves with the help of local skilled friends; and styled to match the original cottage that was built by members of the Shackleton family here in 1967. Some regular visitors like to stay in the old cottage which is made from Canadian cedar wood. The houses are all timber inside and have a very cosy feeling. They also have been built in the most sustainable way utilising as many local materials from the area and also from Lough Ree.
A total of five cottages are available for booking as a week long holiday or more; or they are also ideal for that short break away...
A recent upgrade of an old thatch barn as a party room or communal space has proven a great success where all the family or group can stay in the cottages and book "the thatch" for a get together.
For those who have a boat or cruiser on Lough Ree our new marina allows you to berth overnight and enjoy the comforts of terra firma!
